NO, I'm NOT a teen marketing GURU!
Can I let you into a little secret, bless their hopeful little hearts?
They've all read the same book.
There are well known books out there called things like 'Start a marketing business' and 'How to be a marketing guru overnight' 'How to get rich online' bla bla bla...
They tell you everything from how to speak, how to hook clients, how to create a funnel, how to convince people you know what you're talking about, even what to say in the videos you're going to bombard Facebook, Instagram and TikTok with to convince people that you have the ONE SECRET that all the others don't.
They even explain to wannabe gurus what software to buy, where to get their content written, how to build their 'I'm a guru' website, and bosh, in a week they're a marketing guru convincing unsuspecting clients that they hold the keys to the kingdom.
Well, I'm Joe, I created Eccleshall Websites and Marketing, and I'm NOT a phoney-ass teen marketing guru who bought a package online to convince honest business people of my amazing secret talent.
Here at Eccleshall Websites and Marketing we are real people with decades of experience between us who have personal relationships with our clients, many of whom are local to us. We understand that there is not 'One Magic System' to rule them all, (goodness knows we've seen them all come and go over the years) BUT, we do understand what works and what doesn't.
So what really makes us different as a marketing agency? We know all the trade 'secrets' they do, we have all the same tools at our disposal. But there are some critical differences and they come down to this really:
Decades of experience knowing and understanding people, relationships, communication, businesses and business types, customer services, problem solving, types of consumer, what they need, who they are and how to communicate with them.
Let me put it like this: Let's say I have something I love, say a beautiful classic e-type jaguar car. (In this analogy the car is your business, something you care about!) Now let's say my car is suffering from some serious, hard to diagnose issues, and it's just not running.
Now I have a choice, there's a mouthy twenty-something down the road who has a load of shiny tools with all the chrome still on them, he's standing out of the front of his immaculate shop shouting at passers by that he has all the kit to wobble your flange-danglers, and a lift powerful enough to smash your jag through the roof!
His garage looks amazing! But does he actually know how to use those tools? Or has he just bought them all with some instruction booklets?
Then there's the other guy in the garage next door. He has customers who have stuck with him over time, and come back to him again and again. He has a load of shiny new tools, but they're at the back of the shop, they are pulled out when they're the right tools for the right job. He can turn the key of a client's car and almost immediately diagnose the problem, because he's worked on these cars for so long. His hands are covered in oil, and his clothes are rough and worn from crawling around under chassis. His garage is smaller and rougher looking, it's a working place, mostly because he's not charging clients ridiculous fees which he then wastes on ridiculous overheads and vanity items.
Which garage do you take your Jag to? Well, we're the second garage.
It's crazy but it's true, we're better, and we're cheaper. Yep, you can have both.
